The Port Charlotte Pirates and the Naples Golden Eagles squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Port Charlotte Pirates had to settle for second. Port Charlotte had to suffer through a rough 63-33 loss at the hands of Naples. Port Charlotte's defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Port Charlotte lost, one person who can't be blamed is Edd Guerrier. Despite the final result, he rushed for 210 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, and also picked up 44 receiving yards. Ifeany (Ike) Perry was another key contributor, rushing for 78 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
It was another big night for Shawn Simeon, who rushed for 387 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per carry. Simeon really tore up the turf during one magnificent 82-yard run. Another big playmaker for Naples was Kensley louidor Faustin, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Port Charlotte's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Naples, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Port Charlotte does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Naples will look to defend their home field on Friday against Dunbar at 7:30 p.m. Dunbar is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
