Thunder Ridge has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Hill City Ringnecks at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Thunder Ridge will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 338th, while Hill City is ranked 145th).
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 65-38, which was the final score in Thunder Ridge's tilt against Pike Valley on Saturday. Thunder Ridge was down 51-30 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Meanwhile, Hill City scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Golden Plains 69-28 at home. The victory was familiar territory for Hill City who now have three in a row.
It was another big night for Jaden Nuss, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Mason Herman was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and five blocks.
Thunder Ridge's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Hill City, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Thunder Ridge lost to Hill City on the road by a decisive 68-52 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Thunder Ridge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
