Imperial Valley recap Sept. 26, 2012
Royce Freeman of Imperial ran for the longest rushing play in Imperial Valley this season against Mater Dei last week. Freeman's team beat the Crusaders as he sprinted for 75 yards on the play and finished with 310 in all.
Chris Carter and DeJon Wilson provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Mater Dei. The connection went for 53 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Imperial's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Carter threw for 116 and two touchdowns and Wilson had 53 yards receiving. DaJon Staton helped Imperial's passing attack out by catching two balls for 50 yards.
Imperial's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Tigers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Carter has thrown for 490 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Staton has nine catches for 213 yards. Freeman leads the league in rushing with 833 yards.
Central moved up to 558 from 692 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Imperial Valley. The Spartans climbed the ranks as a result of a 34-31 win over Santana.
