The Claiborne Academy Rebels were the 36-31 winner over the Briarfield Academy Rebels when they last played one another back in January of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. Claiborne Academy was just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 40-39 to Briarfield Academy. Claiborne Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Audrie Teutsch and Jaylee Baird certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Teutsch scored 12 points, while Baird scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Mattie Nowery, who scored five points.
Claiborne Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Briarfield Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Claiborne Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Central School at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Briarfield Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Riverdale Academy at 6:00 p.m.
