Archbishop Hoban and Walsh Jesuit are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Archbishop Hoban Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Walsh Jesuit Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Archbishop Hoban focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
Archbishop Hoban pushed their score all the way to 60, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of McKinley by a score of 62-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Archbishop Hoban has suffered yet this season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Samuel Greer, who scored 19 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas Nichols, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Walsh Jesuit had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Padua Franciscan 71-54 on Tuesday. Given Walsh Jesuit's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while Padua Franciscan is ranked 472nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Archbishop Hoban's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Walsh Jesuit, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Archbishop Hoban strolled past Walsh Jesuit in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a score of 56-37. Will Archbishop Hoban repeat their success, or does Walsh Jesuit have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
