Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Markell Gomillia and Darius Washington Lead Roosevelt to Victory

Roosevelt waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They managed a 61-55 win over the Pinkston Vikings. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 80-73 on January 3rd.

Roosevelt was led to victory by Darius Washington and Markell Gomillia. Washington went 7 for 13 en route to 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Gomillia posted 13 points in addition to seven steals and six assists. That's the most points Washington has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Johnson, who put up four points along with six boards and three steals.

Roosevelt's victory bumped their record up to 16-13. As for Pinkston, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-13.

Roosevelt will venture away from home to square off against Wilmer-Hutchins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Roosevelt is facing Wilmer-Hutchins at the right time seeing as Wilmer-Hutchins is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Pinkston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kimball at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kimball will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Pinkston surely won't give up without a fight.
