There's no place like home for the Westminster Schools of Augusta Wildcats, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 63-50 victory over Aquinas on Tuesday. Given Westminster Schools of Augusta's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Fightin' Irish are ranked 304th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Westminster Schools of Augusta's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but India Williams led the charge by scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Williams is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Jaliyah Terry was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds.
Aquinas lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elle Morris, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Kate Noegel, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Aquinas struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Westminster Schools of Augusta racked up 12 assists.
Westminster Schools of Augusta pushed their record up to 13-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Aquinas, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.
Westminster Schools of Augusta will head out on the road to square off against the at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Frederica Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Aquinas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
