Seton Catholic Central is 0-5 against Owego Free Academy since May of 2022 but things could change on Monday. The Saints will be playing in front of their home fans against the River Hawks at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Seton Catholic Central took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Chenango Forks, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Saints had just enough and edged out the Blue Devils 9-8.

Meanwhile, Owego Free Academy is still undefeated this season after their game against Windsor Central on Wednesday, but Windsor Central came as close as anyone has to beating them. The River Hawks came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Black Knights. Those six runs were actually the fewest the River Hawks have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Like Seton Catholic Central, Owego Free Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Carsten Crawford. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Crawford was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miley Laubach, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Owego Free Academy pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Seton Catholic Central, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
