Softball Recap: Ramona Convent Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Ramona Convent came out on top against Bishop Conaty-Loretto on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Tigers put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 8-1 win. Considering the Tigers have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Madison Garcia was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delicia Murillo, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Abigail Vazquez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Ramona Convent was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are 13-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Ramona Convent's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.6 runs over those games. As for Bishop Conaty-Loretto, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-11.

Looking ahead, Ramona Convent will take on Mark Keppel at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Aztecs have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Bishop Conaty-Loretto, they will square off against Fairfax at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a 16-game losing streak.
