Central Kitsap is a perfect 4-0 against Mount Tahoma since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Cougars will challenge the T-Birds at 4:00 p.m. Central Kitsap's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Mount Tahoma's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Tuesday. Everything went Central Kitsap's way against Capital as they made off with a 19-1 win. Considering Central Kitsap has won nine games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Central Kitsap let Ava Day and Scarlett Mabe run wild. Day went 1-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Mabe went 2-for-3 with three runs and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Peterson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Central Kitsap was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Capital only posted a batting average of .222.
Meanwhile, Mount Tahoma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 15-1 to Peninsula. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the T-Birds couldn't push the score so high this time.
GENESIS JONES made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. KARLIE HEGG was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one double.
Central Kitsap has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Mount Tahoma, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Mount Tahoma's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Central Kitsap hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .392. It's a different story for Mount Tahoma, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Central Kitsap's hitters?
Central Kitsap took their win against Mount Tahoma in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
