With a playoff game on the line, the Berthoud Spartans rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Wellington 38-6 at home. The victory was just business as usual for Berthoud, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.
Berthoud had a senior duo take command as Alex Larson rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns and Darin Davidson threw for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Berthoud also got a significant boost from Ben Larson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.
Berthoud has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 10-0 record. As for Wellington, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-1.
Berthoud will head out on the road to face off against Moffat County at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Moffat County will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Wellington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
