Benet Academy and Waubonsie Valley are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Redwings will challenge the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Benet Academy has three straight wins, Waubonsie Valley has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Benet Academy barely beat Marian Catholic the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Redwings put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 11-3 victory on Thursday.

Sophia Rosner made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Benet Academy got a massive performance out of Alaina Rosner, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Esther Lynn Rossi, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Benet Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Waubonsie Valley lost 9-3 to Metea Valley on Monday.
Dezirae Kelly made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Elsea, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Benet Academy pushed their record up to 10-14 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Waubonsie Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-16.
Everything went Benet Academy's way against Waubonsie Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Benet Academy made off with an 11-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redwings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
