The Northwest Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The matchup between them and Beatrice wasn't particularly close, with Northwest falling 63-46. While losing is never fun, Northwest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Beatrice is ranked 14th).
Despite the defeat, Northwest saw an underclassman step up: Laiken Dorsey scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Haylee Brandt, who scored six points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Northwest's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Beatrice, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Northwest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-41 defeat vs. North Platte on the 12th. Beatrice will head out on the road to challenge Waverly on Thursday.
