The Guernsey-Sunrise Vikings were the 66-64 winner over the Banner County Wildcats when they last played one another back in February of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. Guernsey-Sunrise fell 52-44 to Banner County on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Guernsey-Sunrise came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 56th in Wyoming, while Banner County is ranked 280th in Nebraska).
Brendyn Onstott was a one-man wrecking crew for Banner County as he scored 17 points along with six rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Onstott has scored all season. Nathan McGowan was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five steals.
Guernsey-Sunrise has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Banner County, their win bumped their record up to 5-16.
Guernsey-Sunrise didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-13 defeat vs. Lingle-Fort Laramie on the 10th. Banner County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
