Basketball Recap: Berry's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

There's no place like home for Berry, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against the Vina Red Devils by a score of 45-35 on Monday. The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Berry's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maggie Mauldin, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 16 boards. Mauldin has been hot, having also posted four or more blocks the last eight times she's played. Kryssa Fields was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

Berry smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Vina had strong showings from Lana Bell, who posted 11 points, and Layla Hester, who put up six points along with five assists and four steals.

Berry moved to 2-8 with that win, which also ended their eight-game losing streak. As for Vina, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 16 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season.

Berry didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 35-27 victory against Oak Grove on the 14th. Vina has also already played their next match (against Cherokee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
