The West Seneca West Warhawks will face off against the City Honors Centaurs at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for West Seneca West: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home, while City Honors has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
On Friday, West Seneca West came up short against Griffith Institute and fell 10-5.
Cole Shinners was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Brogan Ramirez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last nine contests, City Honors finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They came up short against Hutchinson-Central Tech, falling 15-2. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Centaurs, who until this match were averaging two runs allowed.
City Honors saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lev Schneiderman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Will Leichtnam was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Having lost for the first time this season, City Honors fell to 12-1. As for West Seneca West, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. West Seneca West has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like City Honors struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went West Seneca West's way against City Honors in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as West Seneca West made off with a 10-2 win. Will the Warhawks repeat their success, or do the Centaurs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
