After flying high against the Moorcroft Wolves on Friday, the Newcastle Dogies came back down to earth. Newcastle took a serious blow against Buffalo on Saturday, falling 72-26. Newcastle was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-11.
Newcastle's loss came despite strong showings from Sydney Pederson and Julie Morris. Pederson scored 16 points along with six rebounds, while Morris scored no points. That was a full 61.5% of Newcastle's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Newcastle's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.8 points per game. As for Buffalo, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
