Baseball Recap: Hershey Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hershey, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Lower Dauphin Falcons on Thursday as Hershey made off with an 11-5 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Trojans considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Danny Nelson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Nelson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sean Callahan, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Bennett Sheppard was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Hershey now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lower Dauphin, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hershey will face off against Northern Lebanon at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Hershey's pitchers better be ready for this one: Northern Lebanon has averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Lower Dauphin, they will challenge Bishop McDevitt at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
