Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maumee). They were the clear victors by a 19-8 margin over the Genoa Area Comets on Friday. Considering the Panthers have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Julia Coutcher made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Coutcher was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Jamie Brooks and Reign Hurt did most of the damage at the plate: Brooks went 2-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple, while Hurt went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Brooks a new career-high. Autumn Gugger was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Maumee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Genoa Area only posted an OBP of .414.
Maumee now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Genoa Area, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-12.
