3A Region I District 8 recap November 5, 2013
Brownwood moved up to 299 from 354 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region I District 8. The Lions were able to move up by defeating Gatesville 69-33.
Liberty Hill extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lampasas, 28-6. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Panthers.
Burnet's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Derek Kiser threw for 191 and 2 touchdowns and Blayne Parisher had 137 yards receiving. On the ground Brock Foster contributed 149 yards. Cody Jones helped Burnet's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 31 yards.
He went 13-23 with 0 interceptions.
Parisher was the best receiver in the league this week as the Bulldogs bested Llano. Parisher racked up 8 receptions for 137 yards. Jones helped Burnet's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 31 yards.
Leading 3A Region I District 8 in both passing and receiving yards, Burnet's Kiser and Jones have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Kiser has thrown for 2,412 yards this season, while Jones has 49 catches for 791 yards. Nick Barrios from Liberty Hill leads the league in rushing with 843 yards.
As it stands, the Yellowjackets are in third, while Brownwood is in fourth.
Chuck Howard's team led the league in scoring this week by notching 69 points on the Hornets.
