Riverside has gone a perfect 7-0 against Irvin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rangers will look to defend their home field against the Rockets at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Riverside has three straight victories, Irvin has nine straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Last Monday, Riverside made easy work of Ysleta and carried off a 12-2 win. Considering the Rangers have won 15 contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Julie Muniz was incredible, scoring four runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Mandy Contreras was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Irvin came up short against Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy on Wednesday, falling 19-3.

Irvin saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cassandra Cardiel, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Riverside pushed their record up to 16-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Irvin, their loss dropped their record down to 3-18.

Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Riverside has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .512. However, it's not like Irvin struggles in that department as they've averaged .522. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Riverside's way against Irvin when the teams last played back in March, as Riverside made off with an 18-2 victory. Do the Rangers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rockets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
