Tellico Plains barely beat Copper Basin the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 18-3 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Caden Kirkland looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
On the hitting side, Daren McJunkin was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. He has become a key player for Tellico Plains: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 8-11 otherwise. As for Copper Basin, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts at 5:00 p.m.
