Harper Morgan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Kailey Tomasch was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Paytin Baehr was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Triway was able to grind out a solid win over Northwest on Wednesday, taking the game 11-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Titans.
Triway got a massive performance out of Kenzie Gatti, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Myah Lester, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.
Triway hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwest struck out eight times.
Elyria Catholic's victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Triway, their record now sits at 12-5.
Elyria Catholic's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game.
