The Charter School for Applied Tech Eagles will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Hutchinson-Central Tech Engineers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Charter School for Applied Tech is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Barker. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Raiders on April 1st, sneaking past 3-1.
Meanwhile, Hutchinson-Central Tech was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They blew past Lafayette 7-1. The Engineers haven't had any issues with the Violets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Ethan Drumsta made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Drumsta was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Hutchinson-Central Tech let Joe Platt and Michael Guercio Jr run wild. Platt got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Guercio Jr went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Guercio Jr a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Timineri-Hoover, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Hutchinson-Central Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Charter School for Applied Tech was able to grind out a solid win over Hutchinson-Central Tech when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 9-5. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Engineers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
