Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact the Fairview Knights proved on Monday. Everything went their way against Gateway as Fairview made off with a 77-54 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Fairview.
Fairview was led to victory by Spencer Brown and Owen Foster. Brown scored 26 points along with 8 rebounds, while Foster scored 25 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Foster has scored at least 25% of Fairview's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Mangine, who scored 5 points.
Despite the loss, Gateway still got an impressive performance from Oriel Bailey, who scored 19 points along with 9 rebounds. The contest was Bailey's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nickalaus Smith, who scored 9 points.
Fairview now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Gateway, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Fairview will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Prairie View at 8:00 p.m. Hopefully Prairie View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday. Gateway is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Battle Mountain at 5:00 p.m. on December 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Battle Mountain is ranked 165th, while Gateway is ranked 186th).
