The Sand Creek Scorpions will head out on the road to challenge the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Sand Creek's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
Sand Creek is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Thornton: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Scorpions blew the Trojans out of the water with a 61-0 final score. That 61 point margin sets a new team best for the Scorpions this season.

Ethan Mangrum produced another solid performance rushing for 199 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 14th straight game with at least 100 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Treven Rick, who threw for 105 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sand Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards in 15 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Another reason for the win was Sand Creek's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. In that department, Achilles Evans was the leader with two.
Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Centaurus 54-35. The Red-Tailed Hawks pushed the score to 40-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors cut but never quite recovered from.
Cheyenne Mountain's win came from a few key players Sand Creek will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sam Hawker, who rushed for 76 yards and three scores, and also threw for 106 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five passes. Those 106 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Colt Kugler was another major influence, as he rushed for 119 yards and ran in a TD.
Cheyenne Mountain didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Mason Godshall led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. Cheyenne Mountain got some further help from Taige Miller: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made four total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Sand Creek's record is now 6-0. As for Cheyenne Mountain, their record now sits at an identical 6-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Sand Creek has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 349.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cheyenne Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 326.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Sand Creek against Cheyenne Mountain in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 57-15 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Scorpions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
