The Antioch Bears will head out to face off against the Lawson Lightning at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Wednesday, Antioch made easy work of East Nashville Magnet and carried off a 17-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Arianna Mitchell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Gabby Kendricks was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kailan McClellan, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
Antioch always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lawson). Everything went their way against Cane Ridge on Tuesday as they made off with a 24-1 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lightning with their most commanding win of the season.
Sophia Rockwell made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Rockwell was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lunden Gaines, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Victoria McNay was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Lawson's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-4. As for Antioch, their record now sits at 5-3.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Antioch has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .577. However, it's not like Lawson struggles in that department as they've averaged .517. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Antioch suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to Lawson when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
