The Greeley West Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 77-39 loss at the hands of Centaurus. Greeley West has not had much luck with Centaurus recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Greeley West's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Flores, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Florez, who scored eight points.
It was another big night for Sam Esposito, who scored 23 points for Centaurus. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jameson Love, who scored eight points along with five assists and five steals.
Greeley West's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Centaurus, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greeley West will take on Wheat Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Centaurus, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Silver Creek at 7:30 p.m. Silver Creek is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
