The Bay Rockets were the 67-61 winner over the Westlake Demons when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The matchup between Bay and the Demons wasn't particularly close, with the Rockets falling 63-44.
Tommy Mack and Collin Melvin certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Mack scored 21 points along with seven rebounds, while Melvin scored 11 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mack has scored all season.
Westlake found their leader in underclassman Ryan Turk, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Turk is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Geagea, who scored 11 points along with two blocks.
Bay has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Westlake, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bay will play host again and welcome the Invaders, where tip off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Ohio (Normandy is ranked 463rd, while the Rockets are ranked 474th). As for Westlake, they will be playing at home against the Green Wave at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
