The Richmond Oilers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 57-6 loss at the hands of Saint Mary's. Richmond has struggled against Saint Mary's recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Saint Mary's' defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Luke Swanson and his two sacks.
Richmond's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 3.3 points per game. As for Saint Mary's, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richmond will square off against Kennedy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Saint Mary's, they will head out on the road to face off against Maria Carrillo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maria Carrillo is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
