Nute is 0-10 against Epping since May of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Rams will take on the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. Nute has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Nute lost 12-6 to Mascenic Regional on Wednesday.
Brandon Bilodeau was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Brody Leeman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Cooper Janis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Epping fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Newmarket on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mules by a score of 11-10.
Benny Follansbee made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in five of his six plate appearances with six RBI. William Ciriello was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.
Nute now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Epping, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Nute has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Epping struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Nute might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Epping when the teams last played back in June of 2025. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
