Clearfield is 1-7 against Bountiful since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Clearfield Falcons will head out on the road to challenge the Bountiful RedHawks at 5:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Clearfield comes in on three and Bountiful on 13.
On Wednesday, Clearfield was able to grind out a solid win over Roy, taking the game 44-33.
Clearfield found their leader in underclassman Isabelle Wyaskett, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Wyaskett is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Jayla Kearns was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Bountiful stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 76-29 win over Bonneville. Given Bountiful's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Bonneville is ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bountiful can attribute much of their success to Milika Satuala, who scored 20 points, and Taylor Harvey, who scored 20 points. Satuala hasn't dropped below 17 points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Adelaide Stevenson, who scored 12 points.
Clearfield is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Bountiful, they pushed their record up to 17-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Clearfield have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Bountiful struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Clearfield came up short against Bountiful when the teams last played back in January, falling 56-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Harvey, who scored 21 points. Now that Clearfield knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
