Baseball Recap: Hamilton County Wins Going Away Against Crossroad Academy

With a playoff win on the line, Hamilton County rose to the challenge on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over the Crossroad Academy Scorpions. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Jacob Luckette made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Hamilton County got a massive performance out of Braxton Stormant, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Stormant is becoming a predictor of the Trojans' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 1-14 when he doesn't). Ryan Moody was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Hamilton County's record now sits at 5-16. As for Crossroad Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-18 with the loss, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Hamilton County will square off against Aucilla Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. Crossroad Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
