Atlantic Christian has gone 8-2 against Calvary Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Cougars will square off against the Warrior at 4:00 p.m. Atlantic Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Two weeks ago, it was close, but Atlantic Christian sidestepped King's Christian for a 5-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Ava Nixon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Atlantic Christian's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jojo Weeks, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Atlantic Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as King's Christian only posted a batting average of .200.
Calvary Academy couldn't beat King's Christian on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Warrior lost 15-5 to the Knights. The match marked the Warrior's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Tori DiChiara was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Ciccone, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
The win got Atlantic Christian back to even at 3-3. As for Calvary Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Atlantic Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Calvary Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Atlantic Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Calvary Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
