Adding to the longest winning streak in Mission Valley this week, Rosemead beat Gabrielino 22-21. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
South El Monte fell to Arroyo 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Nathan Coto threw for 240 yards and 5 touchdowns. He went 13-15 with 0 interceptions.
Nico Lozano was the best receiver in the league this week as the Knights topped the Eagles. Lozano tallied 4 receptions for 159 yards. David Cotero helped Arroyo's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 45 yards.
Arroyo's Coto and Lozano have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Coto has thrown for 2,305 yards this season, while Lozano has 43 catches for 969 yards. Jose Moreno from Mountain View leads the league in rushing with 1,258 yards.
The top two teams in Mission Valley will face off this week when first place Rosemead takes on second place Arroyo. Rosemead beat the Eagles last week, while Jim Singiser's team bested South El Monte.
Going into this week's game against El Monte, Gabrielino's Elijah Peters needs 162 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Peters has thrown for 1,838 yards with 19 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.
The Knights' Lozano is only 31 receiving yards away from breaking 1,000 receiving yards this season as he enters this week's game against the Marc Paramo's team. He has recorded 43 catches for 969 yards this year.
Ibis Aguilar's team's Marcos Lopez needs only 52 yards against the Vikings next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Lopez has rushed for 948 yards on 133 carries so far this year.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Arroyo's Lozano goes up against the Panthers' Johnsthan Chavez.
Next week's game between the Knights and Rosemead will feature an aerial matchup as Coto tests his arm against Chavez's defensive ability.
The league will see a high scoring game when the Panthers and Arroyo face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Rosemead comes in having scored 268 this season, while the Knights have scored 368. The Panthers scored 22 points last week as they topped Harold Sanin's team.
