Football Recap: Foothill Takes a Loss

If Foothill was feeling good fresh off their 48-6 takedown of Faith Lutheran on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Foothill Falcons took a 19-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners on Saturday. Despite 274 more yards than the Roadrunners, the Falcons couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

When it comes to explaining why Foothill lost, don't look at Savannna Truax. Despite the final result, she rushed for 148 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, and also picked up 42 receiving yards. Truax's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked her third straight game with at least 126 rushing yards. Ellie Parkson also helped out with an impressive 83 receiving yards.

A big part of Southeast Career Tech's victory came down to the chemistry between Leyla Randolph and her top target Melody Velazquez. Randolph rushed for 47 yards and one touchdown while Velazquez picked up 64 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Velazquez was even better on defense, making nine total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

Foothill's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Southeast Career Tech, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Foothill has already played their next contest, a 27-0 victory against Spring Valley on the 9th. As for Southeast Career Tech, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 48-6 win against Silverado on the 11th.
