The Richlands Wildcats had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Pender by a score of 50-41 on Wednesday. The victory was just what Richlands needed coming off of a 71-48 loss in their prior match.
Among those leading the charge was Lenny Haftner-Hunter, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Mack, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Richlands pushed their record up to 2-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Pender, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richlands will take on Southwest Onslow at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Southwest Onslow presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Richlands in North Carolina (Southwest Onslow is ranked 144th, while Richlands is ranked 516th). As for Pender, they will head out on the road to face off against Laney at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Laney focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
