Volleyball Recap: Rudder's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

It was a good run, but Rudder unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to the Bastrop Bears. The Rangers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

While Rudder was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-22.

Addison Benavidez paced Rudder's offense, picking up six kills. Benavidez were helped by Maddie Willis and Ja'Liyah McClenton, who contributed seven assists each. Daniela Ponce controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Rudder's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Bastrop, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5.

Looking ahead, Rudder will take on Lago Vista in a tournament on Saturday. As for Bastrop, they will head out to challenge Lexington at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
