Eagleville is 9-1 against Cannon County since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Eagleville Eagles will be playing at home against the Cannon County Lions at 4:00 p.m. Eagleville will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Eagleville proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Friendship Christian 10-9. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Spencer Robbins and Brady Burns did most of the damage at the plate: Robbins scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Burns scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Robbins has posted since back in May of 2024. Koltt Bassham was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Cannon County challenged DeKalb County on Wednesday. Cannon County was the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over DeKalb County.
The team relied heavily on Gage Nokes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Waylon Crawford, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Eagleville's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Cannon County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eagleville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like Cannon County struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eagleville was able to grind out a solid win over Cannon County in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, winning 3-0. Will Eagleville repeat their success, or does Cannon County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
