McClave scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Fowler, 12-6. At the time, the Grizzlies was ranked ninth in the state, while the Cardinals was 30th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to McClave, who took down ninth ranked Fowler, 12-6.
Hoehne's dynamic duo of Sawyer Schafer and Derrick Cordova proved tough for Swink to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Schafer threw for 189 yards and five touchdowns and Cordova had 94 yards receiving. Vince Valdez helped Hoehne's passing attack out by catching two balls for 71 yards.
Alan Peil was the most productive running back in A-8 South - Southern (8 Man) this week. He ran for 300 yards on 27 carries as Manzanola beat the Lions. Tyler Stover also contributed to the rushing game with 73 yards on the ground.
Hoehne's Schafer and Cordova have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Schafer has thrown for 849 yards this season, while Cordova, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 26 catches for 440 yards. Peil from the Bobcats leads the league in rushing with 1318 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Bob Schafer's team takes on Cripple Creek-Victor. The Farmers are currently in first, while the Pioneers are in sixth.
Shawn Randel's team was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating John Ayers' team. The Cardinals came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
