The Brunswick Railroaders lost against the Walkersville Lions back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Brunswick had to suffer through a rough 65-34 loss at the hands of Walkersville. Brunswick has not had much luck with Walkersville recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Brunswick's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gabby Stefanic, who scored 23 points, and Andie Welsh who scored nine points along with 18 rebounds and five blocks. Stefanic scored a full 67.6% of Brunswick's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Juliette Bel, who scored two points.
Brunswick's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Walkersville, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.
Brunswick will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Smithsburg at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Walkersville and Hayfield will round out the year against one another at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday at. Hayfield is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
