Hershey has won four straight games at home, while Palmyra has won four straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Trojans will host the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
If Hershey beats Palmyra with five runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Trojans had just enough and edged out Carlisle 5-4 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Thundering Herd: they've now won six in a row.
Sean Callahan made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Bennett Sheppard was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Grant Later was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Hershey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, while Palmyra put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Red Land. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Patriots 1-0. The one-run effort marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Blake Deiter looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyler Peck, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Palmyra's win bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Hershey, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Hershey couldn't quite get it done against Palmyra when the teams last played back in March as they fell 4-1. Will the Trojans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
