5A Region III District 24 recap September 17, 2013
Matt Guidry of Clear Springs ran for the longest rushing play in 5A Region III District 24 this season against La Porte last week. Guidry scampered for 72 yards on the play and finished with 278 on the day as his team beat the Bulldogs.
Clear Falls moved up to 395 from 513 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Knights climbed the ranks as a result of beating Dobie 24-0.
Guidry was a beast in the backfield as Clear Springs defeated La Porte.
John Humphrey was the best wideout in the league this week as Clear Falls beat the Longhorns. Humphrey racked up 7 receptions for 89 yards. Nik Kelly helped Clear Falls' passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 37 yards.
Samuel Smith, III threw for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 20-30 with 2 interceptions.
Smith, III put up the best numbers through the air as Clear Lake beat Sterling. Smith, III's favorite target this week was Jordan Davis, who caught 7 passes for 65 yards.
Guidry was a passing and rushing force as Frank Maldonado's team beat Jeff Lareau's team. Guidry's favorite target this week was Devin Milburn, who caught 5 passes for 61 yards.
Guidry was the best running back in 5A Region III District 24 this week. Zach Cripps also contributed to the rushing game with 27 yards on the ground.
Clear Brook and Vidor played the most contested game in the league this week, with Clear Brook eventually emerging with a 33-29 victory.
