Germantown fought the good fight in their extra-innings  match against Greenville  on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took  an  18-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The team also got some help courtesy of  David Schmitz, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances.
Germantown's loss was  their third straight at home, which  dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Greenville,  the  victory snapped their losing streak at four games  and leaves them with a 2-4 record.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Germantown will venture away from home to  challenge Loudonville Christian  at 6:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for Greenville, they will head out to  square off against Watervliet  at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
