Having just played yesterday, the Washington Patriots will get right back to it and host the James Wood Colonels at 7:30 p.m. on December 7th. Washington will be strutting in after a victory while James Wood will be coming in after a loss.
Washington took care of business in their home opener on Wednesday (and then some). They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Hagerstown 71-40 at home.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Washington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lexi Adams, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miriangelis Rivera, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals and 3 blocks.
Meanwhile, James Wood's 16-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 49-36 to Clarke County on Tuesday.
Despite the loss, James Wood got a solid performance out of Josie Russell, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Russell is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Maddie Shirley, who scored 3 points along with 4 steals.
Washington's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for James Wood, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Washington lost to James Wood at home by a decisive 52-33 margin in their previous matchup back in March of 2021. Thankfully for Washington, Gabby Valentinetti (who scored 25 points along with 5 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
