The University City Lions will be playing at home against the East St. Louis Flyers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as University City comes in on four and East St. Louis on three.
Even though University City has not done well against Parkway West recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. University City blew past Parkway West, posting a 69-41 win at home. Given University City's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Parkway West is ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, East St. Louis didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Alton on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 57-52 win.
East St. Louis' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robert McCline, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Powell, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds.
Their wins bumped University City to 4-1 and Parkway West to 2-2.
