Even though the Floyd Central Jaguars scored an imposing 67 points on Friday, the Paintsville Tigers still came out on top. Paintsville took down Floyd Central 85-67. For Paintsville, this counts as revenge for the 68-42 defeat Floyd Central walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.
Floyd Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Compton, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 22 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Hall, who scored 14 points.
Paintsville's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Floyd Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Paintsville will head out on the road to face off against Belfry at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Floyd Central, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Breathitt County at 7:30 p.m.
