Calhoun/Brussels has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Beardstown Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Calhoun/Brussels got themselves on the board against Brown County, but Brown County never followed suit. They beat the Hornets by the very same score they won with last week: 42-0. The result was nothing new for Calhoun/Brussels, who have now won five contests by 36 points or more so far this season.
Calhoun/Brussels' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Miles Lorton, who threw for 54 yards and two touchdowns on only five passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Pat Friedel, who picked up 54 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Beardstown beat North Greene 38-26 on Friday.
Their wins bumped Calhoun/Brussels to 5-3 and Beardstown to 4-4.
Calhoun/Brussels suffered a grim 36-11 defeat to Beardstown when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Calhoun/Brussels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
