Hatch Valley (Hatch, N.M.) defeated Lordsburg (N.M.) 61-27.
The Bears scored on a touchdown catch by
Adrian Grajeda, a touchdown run, a rushing touchdown and a touchdown run in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown catch by Grajeda in the second quarter, Hatch Valley led 34-21 at the half.
HV expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. The Hatch school scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Juan Caraza.
The Mavericks came in surrendering 10.3 points per game this season. Lordsburg had a hard time against Hatch Valley's offense, who entered the game scoring 43.6 points per game.
A 34-7 Hatch Valley victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss was the third in a row for LHS. With the win HV extended its winning streak to three games.
Hatch Valley (7-2) goes up against Cobre in a 2A District 3 game matchup next week, while Lordsburg (5-4) locks horns with Mesilla Valley Christian also in a 2A District 3 game.
