Basketball Recap: The Academy Gets the Win

While The Academy's victory against Eagle Ridge Academy wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Academy Wildcats slipped by the Eagle Ridge Academy Warriors 64-63 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won four matchups in a row.

Trey Boychuk continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10-for-20 en route to 26 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. The game was his sixth in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Hernandez, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards.

The Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. They racked up eight more assists than Eagle Ridge Academy's also-impressive total of 13.

Eagle Ridge Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jayden Davis, who shot 60% from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points and six rebounds, and Samuel Rich, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. Ho'Wesl Spotted Elk was another key player, putting up 12 points.

The Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points over those games. As for Eagle Ridge Academy, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.

The Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-42 defeat against Middle Park on the 27th. As for Eagle Ridge Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 75-31 loss against Colorado Academy on the 27th.
